According to Screenrant, the news in question is the series being green lit for a second season, which will focus mainly on the second installment in the franchise, The Chamber of Secrets. There will be some major changes as Jon Brown (Pompei, Starstruck) has been promoted from writer to co-showrunner, and work alongside Francesca Gardiner (His Dark Materials, Succession).
In an interview with Screenrant, Gardiner details the organized groundwork established for the series and its future,”as we have laid out our plans for the overlapping production schedules to finish season one by Christmas and to return to production for season two this autumn, it has become clear that bringing on a co-showrunner is the key to maintaining our momentum.”
She further goes to state on Brown’s amazing promotion,“I’ve loved working with Jon from the very first day we met on ‘Succession’ through to these recent times together on ‘Harry Potter.’ Not only do I have huge admiration for his writing, but he’s also a brilliant collaborator and a lovely person.
