Disney+ Releases Premiere Dates For ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,’ ‘The Mysterious Benedict Society’

Disney+ has announced the premiere dates for some of their most awaited series, including High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and The Mysterious Benedict Society, according to DeadlineAlongside these, the network also recently set premiere dates for Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Marvel’s Loki.

High School Musical: The Series puts a classic twist on the beloved Disney film franchise, High School Musical, switching to a ‘mockumentary’ style of filming, as seen in The Office or Modern Family. In the show’s first season, East High School is back, except now, it houses Olivia Rodrigo’s (Bizaardvark) Nini Salazar-Roberts and Joshua Bassett’s (Stuck in the Middle) Ricky Bowen. The season follows a new drama teacher, played by Kate Reinders (Work It), and her pursuits to reinstate the arts in East High’s students through a performance of High School Musical. Starring Sofia Wylie (Andi Mack), Matt Cornett (Bella and the Bulldogs), Larry Saperstein (Fan Girl), and Julia Lester (Bella and the Bulldogs), High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will premiere its second season on May 14. The upcoming season will follow East High’s drama students’ as they prepare to perform Beauty and the Beast as their spring musical, competing with North High to win a distinguished student theater competition. The season will feature guest stars Derek Hough (Dancing with the Stars), Olivia Rose Keegan (Days of Our Lives), Andrew Barth Feldman (Ben Platt Live), Roman Banks (Dear Evan Hanson), and Asher Angel (Shazam!).

Based on the novel by Trenton Lee Stewart, Disney+’s The Mysterious Benedict Society follows a group of gifted orphans who were placed undercover at The Institute, a boarding school. They’re meant to investigate the mysteries behind a series of secret messages copied into people’s minds through technology, creating a version of international panic known as “The Emergency.” The series is slated to premiere on Disney+ on June 25 and stars Kristen Schaal (Bob’s Burgers), Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy), Gia Sandhu (A Simple Favor), MaameYaa Boafo (Bluff City Law), and Seth Carr (The Main Event).
