‘Chicago Med’ Unveils Luke Mitchell As New Cast Member

According to Deadline, the actor known as Luke Mitchell has made his debut as a character on the show Chicago Med. Mitchell will play the character Dr. Mitch Ripley. Mitchell’s debut will happen on the season nine premiere of the show.

Deadline says that the NBC drama has described the character as “an Emergency Department doctor with a troubled past who shares a history with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt).” While at the moment Mitchell’s character will only be recurring, it is possible that he will become a key character in season ten and other seasons that may follow.

Deadline also revealed that there have been photos released by NBC regarding the new character and casting. The website also said that the ninth season of Chicago Med will have thirteen episodes.

According to IMDB, Chicago Med is “An emotional thrill ride through the day-to-day chaos of the city’s most explosive hospital and the courageous team of doctors who hold it together. They will tackle unique new cases inspired by topical events, forging fiery relationships in the pulse-pounding pandemonium of the emergency room.”

NBC stated that when thinking of the plot of season nine, it “will likely pick up where we leave the doctors in Season 8, which has been nail-biting ordeal. Chicago Med’s fearless boss Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) is fighting tooth and nail to prevent Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) from turning the hospital into a for-profit hospital. Will this carry into the next season? The answer is unclear, but Chi-Hards can’t wait to find out.”

NBC also revealed that along with Mitchell, many fan favorites will be returning. Lisa Katz, the president of scripted programming at NBCUniversal said “We understand the emotional connection our audience has with these characters and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the forefront next season.”

The series is produced by the likes of Dick Wolf (Law & order), Diane Frolov (The Sopranos), Andrew Schneider (The Fall Guy), Stephen Hootstein (Covert Affairs), Eli Talbert (Broken Arrow), Arthur Forney (Altered States) and Peter Jankowski (FBI: Most Wanted), says Deadline. Season nine will officially premiere on Wednesday, january 19th.
