Brett Gelman Joins ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

Stranger Things is adding a bit of Gelmania to the mix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brett Gelman has been added to the cast of the Netflix sci-fi drama’s second season. Gelman has been cast as Murray Bauman, a down on his luck journalist/conspiracy theorist who is digging into a cold case in Hawkins.

Gelman joins fellow recent Stranger Things additions Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen, Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, and former Married co-star Paul Reiser. The Matt and Ross Duffer series will also see the return of stars Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, and Matthew Modine.

Stranger Things is not the only bizarre world Gelman will be appearing in in 2017. He will also show up in an unknown role in the upcoming third season of Twin Peaks when it airs on Showtime. Gelman can also be seen in Comedy Central’s Another Period and The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, and on Amazon’s Fleabag. On the film side, Gelman stars in the upcoming Lemon as a man who struggles to keep his life together after his blind girlfriend breaks up with him. Gelman co-wrote the film with his wife, writer/director Janicza Bravo (Gregory Go Boom).

Gelman’s Stranger Things casting news comes days after he publicly declared on twitter that he had “severed ties” with his longtime collaborators at Adult Swim due to the company’s lack of female creators. Gelman has done multiple projects with the network including writing on the most recent season of The Eric Andre Show, the Tim and Gelman Have Lunch shorts, and his Dinner series of shorts.
