‘Billy on the Street’ Moving to Netflix

Billy Eichner’s Billy on the Street is moving to Netflix. The first four seasons will be available on the streaming service on November 1.

Billy on the Street is a live game show that takes place in the streets of New York City. Eichner roams the streets, often with celebrities, and asks random pedestrians pop culture questions.

The series premiered December 18, 2011, on Fuse. It ran for three seasons before moving to truTV for its fourth season in 2015. After two seasons, truTV canceled the show. In statement to Variety, a spokesperson of truTv said, “The show is deceptively time-consuming to make and scheduling was increasingly difficult. We had a great run together capped off by the show’s Emmy nomination, and we wish Billy nothing but the best.”

After a year of no news about Billy on the Street, Eichner announced in 2018 that Funny or Die, the show’s producer, had teamed up with the rideshare company Lyft to create a sixth season. “As we all know, this is a very divisive, anxiety-ridden time and I hope these new segments — featuring the most stunning roster of guests we’ve ever had — give people a small burst of joy in their timelines while allowing me to comment on culture and the world at large in the unique way this show allows me to.”

The year hiatus of his show allowed Eichner to focus on other projects, “I’m back to heal the country…and the world! After five seasons of the TV series, I knew I wanted to set the show aside in order to create some time in my schedule to pursue other projects.” After his guest role in Parks and Recreation in 2013, Eichner has been part of many pop culture favorites such as American Horror Story, The Lion King, and Bob’s Burgers
