Hulu Announces ‘Vice Investigates’ Series with Trailer

The era of Vice on HBO may be over, but the media company’s TV programs are living on through a number of new network partners. The latest platform to pick up one of its offerings is streaming service Hulu, which has ordered the new documentary series Vice Investigates. The series is set to debut with three episodes on November 1st. The news comes after the company’s flagship series Vice, longtime staple of HBO’s lineup, was cancelled and, later, subsequently picked up by Showtime. After Vice’s cancellation, HBO dropped the Emmy winning nightly news show Vice News Tonight, formally ending the relationship between both companies. Vice News Tonight is now set to air on Vice’s own television station Viceland.

Vice Investigates will feature deep dives into major topics and issues in the spheres of both politics and popular culture. The show will follow in the footsteps of predecessor Vice’s series of special reports, which examined single issues like the United States prison system, artificial intelligence, and the push to cure cancer over a longer span than the show’s typical 30-minute run time.

The first three episodes are respectively slated to cover the phenomenon that is K-Pop, and an examination of intersex and transgender athletes, and the political dynamic between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The third is set to feature Shane Smith, Vice’s co-founder and former CEO who played a prominent role in the HBO iteration of Vice. The same episode will feature an interview with President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who currently holds the position of Senior Advisor to the President. Hulu has released a trailer for the series.

Following this initial three episode release, the show is scheduled to come out with new episodes monthly. All told, Hulu’s order calls for ten episodes total. The new series will be helmed by showrunner and executive producer Subrata De. Beverly Chase will join her in the capacity of co-EP.

Vice Investigates is set to debut on Hulu on November 1st at midnight ET.
