Billy Campbell Slated To Star In ‘National Parks’ Pilot At ABC

One of ABC’s newest drama series, National Parks has announced Bill Campbell as its lead in the upcoming pilot, according to Variety. The Kevin Costner (Yellowstone) series, formerly known as ISB, landed a pilot order at the network at the beginning of the month.

The upcoming show will center around a group of elite NSP agents who solve crimes within the national park business while also protecting them. Per the series logline, “while the national parks are known for their sweeping, beautiful landscapes, there is also a darker, more sinister side to these parks that attract a vast array of criminal activity,” via Variety. Campbell’s character is Cal Foster, an ISB special agent with years of experience in the field and now taking on a leadership role. Despite his concerns regarding how his co-workers will treat him as their superior, he vows to honor his position and protect his fellow agents regardless of the circumstance.

Campbell’s credits include his role in the Hulu series Cardinal, where he won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actor for two consecutive years. His roles in the Syfy series Helix, the Netflix series The Killing, the USA Network series The 4400, and The CW series Dynasty, have also given him recognition in the television industry. Meanwhile, while lesser-known in film, Campbell has starred in The Rocketeer and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

National Parks will mark Campbell’s writing debut, as he will serve as co-writer of the series alongside Aaron Helbing (Halo 4) and Jon Baird (Stan & Ollie), with all three also executive producing along with Costner. Barry Jossen (Dear Diary), Tana Jamieson (The Beast), and Anthony Hemingway (The Infamous) will also executive produce. The latter will also serve as director of the pilot.
