‘Better Call Saul’ Receives Animated Spinoff Series Order for ‘Slippin’ Jimmy’

The Breaking Bad universe is set to continue to expand. The AMC original spinoff series Better Call Saul is preparing to produce and develop an animated spinoff series, according to Screen Rant. Better Call Saul centers on the trials and tribulations of Albuquerque lawyer and criminal con man known as Jimmy McGill prior to his transformation to Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad. Acting as a prequel series, Better Call Saul first premiered in 2015, following the conclusion of Breaking Bad in 2013, and is currently in the process of filming its sixth and final season for AMC.

Better Call Saul primarily focused on the relationship between Jimmy and his brother Chuck during the former’s first few years practicing law. The animated series that was ordered by AMC, Slippin’ Jimmy, will continue to explore this relationship between the two brothers, particularly during their childhood in Illinois. According to Screen Rant, the animated series will pay homage to the animated series Fat Albert

Currently, it is unknown whether Bob Odenkirk (Nobody, Breaking Bad) will return to his role as Jimmy McGill in a voice role. Additionally, Chuck was previously portrayed by Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap, Breeders) and it is also unknown whether he will return to his role in Slippin’ Jimmy. There has been no announcement regarding when the series will begin its production, announce its cast, nor premiere for AMC.
