Sheriff Country is going to have a honeymoon moment in its second season premiere. Ben McKenzie (The O.C., Southland) is going to guest star alongside his wife and Sheriff Country star, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Homeland), in the second season premiere of CBS’s Sheriff Country, according to Deadline.
The series is a spinoff of CBS’s Fire Country. Sheriff Country centers on Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone, played by Diane Farr (Fire Country, Rescue Me). Fox is a dedicated sheriff who investigates local criminal activity in the fictional small town of Edgewater, California. While fighting for the safety of the town, she competes with her father, Wes, played by W. Earl Brown (The Highwaymen, Deadwood), who is an ex-convict leading a remote marijuana farm. Additionally, she struggles with her relationship with her estranged daughter.
The couple, who were co-stars on Fox’s Gotham, will be playing together again as fellow sheriffs. McKenzie will play the role of Sheriff Wade, a sheriff from the next town over who is called upon to help Fox in a criminal investigation. Wade will have complexities of his own that begin to unfold throughout the episode.
Baccarin teased McKenzie’s role in her latest Instagram post.
Baccarin and McKenzie’s relationship started on Gotham, where the couple first met and then started dating. Later on, they got married on screen, in the series finale, and off screen.
Max Thieriot (SEAL Team, Fire Country), Joan Rater (Doubt, Fire Country), Tony Phelan (A Small Light, Doubt) and Matt Lopez (Gone, Bedtime Stories) executive produce the series alongside Jerry Bruckheimer Television owner Jerry Bruckheimer (Boston Blue, Fire Country) and KristieAnne Reed (Lucifer, CSI: Vegas).
