The autopsy report of Glee star Naya Rivera (Step Up, Devious Maids) revealed that she called for help before drowning, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In early July, the 33-year-old actress was found dead after 6 day search in Lake Piru, California while boating with her 4-year-old son.
Prior to her drowning, Rivera’s son “noticed the decedent put her arm up in the air and yelled ‘help,'” according to a portion of the report from the Ventura County Medical Examiner found on The Hollywood Reporter. Directly following her drowning, officials believed that Rivera had accidentally drowned after helping her son back onto the boat but had no allusions to her calling for help. According to the man who rented her the boat, Rivera allegedly declined a life vest but kept one on board anyways.
Additionally, the autopsy report discovered that Rivera had issues with vertigo, a recent sinus infection, and had a small amount of the anti-anxiety drug diazepam as well as the appetite suppressant phentermine in her system when she died. Officials still believe that she drowned after being caught in underwater vegetation until floating to the top days later.
The Glee star’s death came exactly seven years after her co-star Cory Monteith (Glee, Monte Carlo) died from a mix of alcohol and heroin.
