Ashton Kutcher’s ‘The Ranch’ Quickly Renewed for Season 2

Things are looking up for Ashton Kutcher.

Despite the fact that the show has only been on the air–or, at least, on the Netflix website–for twenty-nine days, the streaming service giant has already announced that it is going to renew Kutcher’s newest TV show, The Ranch, Variety reports.

Kutcher initially revealed the news through a video of his Ranch team on Twitter. The former That ’70s Show actor excitedly wrote, “It’s official: Season 2 of @TheRanchNetflix coming 2017!”

In the video, dressed appropriately in flannel, Ranch star Danny Masterson says, “Hey, y’all, greetings from the ranch. Just a reminder that you got ten more episodes coming out this fall.”

“Oh yeah,” says Kutcher (also, of course, dressed in flannel). “We got renewed for a second season. Boom.”

The Ranch, one of Netflix’s expanding vault of original comedies, features Kutcher living on a sprawling ranch in Garrison, Colorado as Colt, alongside his brother Rooster, played by Masterson, and his Vietnam-vet, country-rough father, played by Road House and The Big Lebowski star Sam Elliot. Colt (Kutcher) moves back home after retiring from his rocketing career, signing with his hometown team after travelling around and playing in minor league football, to assist his family with the struggling business. From there, comedy ensues. After all, the trio have a lot more to say about the world than the one they live in.

“It’s usually Hollywood making fun of Middle America,” says Masterson to E! News,  “and we wanted to be Middle America making fun of Hollywood.”

So far, only half of season one has aired; in the growing style of splitting seasons down the middle to generate excitement all year long, the first ten episodes of The Ranch are currently available on Netflix while the second half is set to air in fall 2016.

The Ranch initially aired on April 1st of this year, making this renewal one of Netflix’s quickest ever. Meanwhile, the show itself has only managed an average middle-ground rating from most critics, usually around a 5/10. However, the show has just begun, and a renewal gives the series space to grow.
