Apple TV+ Releases Full Trailer for Lord And Miller Murder-Mystery Comedy Series, ‘The After Party’

After a summer announcement last year, Apple TV has released the first full trailer for its new series, The After Party. From the minds of Phil Lord (Spider-Man 2: Across the Universe, The Lego Movie) and Christopher Miller (22 Jump Street, The Mitchells vs. the Machines), the show is a genre-bending comedy that delves into a celebrity’s murder at a party being held during a high school reunion. Check the trailer out below.

The series stars Dave Franco (Nerve, Now You See Me) as Hollywood’s rich it-boy, Xavier, who hosts an after-party for his former classmates after their Hillmont High School reunion. Soon, all the alum become suspects when Xavier’s body is discovered dead on the shore beneath his idyllic beach house. Tiffany Haddish’s (Girl Trip, The Last O.G.) detective arrives to figure out the who and why behind Xavier’s murder.

With every last attendee having a grudge against their former classmate, the journey to finding the culprit will be one hilariously difficult task. The assorted cast includes Sam Richardson (Veep, Promising Young Woman), Ike Barinholtz (The Oath, The Hunt), Ilanna Glazer (Broad City, False Positive), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Parks and Recreation), Zoe Chao (Strangers, Love Life), and Jamie Demetriou (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Curella).

The After Party is just one of many television projects Lord and Miller have in the works. The duo has a pact with Sony to develop TV projects based on Marvel Comics characters under their umbrella. This includes the upcoming live-action Silk series at Amazon. On the animation side, MTV recently reached out to the creative team for reboot of their cult classic series, Clone High.

On the film side of things, Sony is keeping the pair busy as well. Fans received the first look at the highly-anticipated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One), which is set for an October 2022 release.
