Annie Ilonzeh To Star In NBC’s ‘Getaway’

Annie Ilonzeh (Chicago Fire) is slated to star in NBC’s newest drama pilot entitled Getaway, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe series centers around an ordinary destination wedding at an isolated luxury resort that is eventually taken hostage by dangerous criminals. The group of wedding guests, including an Army veteran played by Ilonzeh, must fight to stay alive.

The role of Tessa Carrillo, an Army veteran with a tragic backstory, will be taken on by Illonzeh. Her character put her dreams on hold at 18 to take care of her younger sister, Grace, following the sudden death of their parents. After diverging over the years, Tessa is attending her sister’s wedding in hopes of reconnecting. JJ Bailey (Castle) and Moira Kirland (Madam Secretary) will pen the script and executive produce with John Davis (I, Robot) and John Fox (Game Night).

Getaway‘s pilot remained in contention at NBC, still being eyed for a midseason debut.
