Review: ‘Spider-Noir’ Season 1, Episode 4 “A Mistake I’ll Never Make Again”

Episode 4 starts with Cat singing, while Silvermane talks with Ben about Winston and Gio, complimenting Ben on his work, and says that he is going to speak with Chief McNamara. After some conversation with Cat and Ben, Ben stumbles back to his office hungover, when Janet tells him the mayor wants to speak with him.

While Cat is packing up, Silvermane comes in and talks with her about Winston being the rat. While he agrees, he says it doesn’t explain what she was doing at the train station. After she manages to explain it away, Janet gets a call from Cat, asking to meet Ben at the Calypso at 3. After McNamara fails to show up, and Silvermane orders he be found, Ben then meets Cat at the Calypso. Cat says they need to get their stories straight about the train station, and that Silvermane is going to ask questions about the raid, which could lead him to the mayor.

When Ben tries to ask her why she tried to kill Silvermane, she says she can’t say it there. Cat brings Ben to the place she used to perform before Silvermane found her. After talking about her first love Thomas (killed by Silvermane) and Flint, Ben asks her about Addison. She says Flint mentioned him and that he lost his job and was burning things for money. She offered him money to kill Silvermane, but he botched the job.

Robbie brings Lonnie to the office to speak with him about when he got his powers, or where he’s from. When he doesn’t budge, Janet brings out some cards, which seems to get him to open up a bit. After talking about family, Robbie mentions that his brother was a POW, which gets Lonnie to open up further. Silvermane then goes to the club to speak with The Mayor and the Chief.

After the mayor and Silvermane finish their conversation, with a threat from Flint, Ben and Cat’s moment is interrupted by a news break. The news break mentions that a superpowered monster is terrorizing the diamond district. Cat tries to get Ben to go with her, but he tells her to go instead. Back at the office, after Lonnie says they should speak with Doc Faber, the phone rings, Robbie answers it, and it’s Ben, telling him to get a camera and head to the diamond district.

Ben dons the Spider and swings down where he runs into a different superpowered individual, Megawatt.  After knocking him out in front of a crowd, the Mayor arrives, and brags that he and The Spider have teamed up to save the city. Back at his apartment, Cat stops by and basically proves her knowledge that he is the Spider.

The show is getting even better than it was. This episode is probably around the same as the previous episode in terms of quality and how good it actually was. What was interesting about this episode was the villain Megawatt. Apparently, he is a villain that only appeared in one comic, so he is not a very well-known villain. It seems like this could mean they are going to start including more characters that haven’t had much time to shine, possibly in future projects, which is pretty cool. So far, this show has been worth watching.

Zach Zucconi: I am a 20-year-old from New Jersey. I graduated with an Associate's of the Arts and recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications. I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
