Netflix And Sony Animation Reveal The Logo For The New Animated Series ‘Ghostbusters: Night Shift’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures held an event in New York City on Saturday at the Fire Department of the City of New York’s Hook & Ladder 8 firehouse for Ghostbusters Day, which celebrates the June 8 release of the original 1984 film. The firehouse location has served as the Ghostbusters’ recurring headquarters and real-life filming location since the first film.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, during the event, showrunners Ben Hibon (Star Trek: Prodigy, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 ) and Elliott Kalan (Maniac of New York, Spier-Man and the X-Men), along with Ghost Corps executive producers Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Saturday Night) and Gil Kenan (A Boy Called Christmas, Monster House), announced the official title and logo for Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming animated Ghostbusters series: Ghostbusters: Night Shift. The new anime series is scheduled to release sometime in 2027.

Reitman and Kenan have recognized that the charitable efforts of the “Ghostbusters Give Back” initiative, which surpassed its $500,000 fundraising goal, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The Golden Trap awards were given to the three chatters that raised the most money for local causes. The winners are  Buffalo Ghostbusters with $67,000, Los Angeles Ghostbusters with $65,000,  and Ghostbusters Virginia with $30,000. Additionally, all proceeds from the event benefited the FDNY Foundation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A $150,000 matching donation check was also presented by Jay Levine, EVP, Chief Strategy Officer & Business Operations at Sony Pictures, alongside Reitman and Kenan, to Adam Garone, CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation, on behalf of Sony Pictures, Starlight Children’s Foundation and “Ghostbusters Give Back.” Additionally, all proceeds from the event benefited the FDNY Foundation.

“At Sony Pictures, we’re incredibly proud of the lasting impact of the Ghostbusters franchise and the amazing fan community that continues to support it,” Levine said at the event Saturday via The Hollywood Reporter. “The spirit of Ghostbusters has always been about helping others and answering the call when people need you. You have volunteered, raised money, supported causes and brought joy to communities everywhere.”

The franchise of Ghostbusters includes 1989 Ghostbusters II, 2016 Ghostbusters: Answer the Call , 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife and 2024 Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire .
