‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ Back for Season 2 at NBC

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will be renewed for a sophomore season at NBC, according to Variety. The series stars Zoey Clarke, played by Jane Levy (Evil Dead) who after unusual circumstances, is able to hear desires of people around her through musical numbers. With the help of her neighbor, Mo played by Alex Newell (Glee) and reconnecting with her father played by Peter Gallagher (American Beauty) she begins to realize this curse as a gift to experience the world around her.

“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who fell in love with Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and how much joy it brought to everyone,” said  co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment, Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta according to Variety. “We’re thrilled to bring it back and can’t wait to see how Zoey’s journey continues.”

Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), John Clarence Stewart (The Good Fight), Mary Steenburgen (Las Vegas) and Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) also star in this NBC series. Lionsgate, Universal Television along with Tannenbaum Company, Feigco Entertainment and Universal Music Group’s Polygram Entertainment produce Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.

Per NBC, the series premiere has grown to a 3.3 rating and 7.9 million viewers across digital and linear platforms to date, according to Variety. NBC announced news of the series renewal day post cancelling two other freshman shows: Perfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector.

There is no news of a season two premiere date for Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
