Vin Diesel Developing New Drama ‘First Responders’ for NBC

NBC has just purchased the script for a new procedural drama called First Responders, with Vin Diesel on board as executive producer. Variety had the story.

First Responders will follow an elite Search and Rescue team made up of young veterans “struggling to reintegrate into society” as they work to save civilian lives. The team, whose base of operations is located on the coast of Southern California, is run by Doc and Lil Pierce. The husband-and-wife duo act as surrogate parents for the rest of the team. In addition to rescuing civilians, Doc and Lil are also trying to find their own son, whose disappearance has haunted them for a long time.

The series is being produced by One Race Television, a division of the One Race Films production company. The company was founded by Diesel in 1995, and has produced such films as Pitch BlackxXx, and Furious 7.

Jesse Stern, who has written for the immensely popular Call of Duty series (specifically Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2) as well as the equally popular CBS series NCIS, will act as a writer for the new series. Brad Peyton (San AndreasRepublic of Doyle) has also joined the project as a director.

First Responders will be developed and overseen by One Race Television’s Shana Waterman. No official release date has been given.
