Viceland Taps Adult Swim Vet Nick Weidenfeld and MTV Exec Cristian Jofre for Senior Positions

Viceland has just added two people to its top staff, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The cable channel, run by Vice Media and A&E Networks, has added Adult Swim’s Nick Weidenfeld and MTV executive Cristian Jofre to the team.

Nick Weidenfeld has been hired on as the president of programming for the channel. Along with working at Adult Swim, Weidenfeld has worked at Fox and FX. He has won two producing Emmys for his work on Adult Swim’s show Children’s Hospital and has producing credits on plenty of other notable Adult Swim series including Delocated, Superjail!, Morel Orel, Metalocalypse and NTSF:SD:SUV. Weidenfeld’s position at Viceland will involve overseeing the creation of new content for the channel, a job that has mainly been delegated to co-president of Viceland, Spike Jonze (Her, Where The Wild Things Are, Being John Malkovich).

Cristian Jofre has been employed at Viceland as Viceland International’s creative director. Jofre will be in charge of the cable channel’s image as it begins to grow internationally, as well as be involved in the programming and sales elements of the channel. The longtime executive has plenty of experience in this position, having worked as the creative director for MTV Networks International.

Viceland, a spin-off television channel of the documentary/entertainment website, features a multitude of TV shows that reflect the Vice brand. These include shows like F*ck, That’s Delicious, a show that follows rapper Action Bronson as he travels and eats food and Gaycation, a show where Ellen Page and Ian Daniel travel across the globe and learn about the realities of the LGBTQ cultures in different parts of the world.

Even though Vice has launched this new cable channel with A&E, the HBO documentary series Vice is still being broadcast on HBO. New episodes of Vice‘s current 4th season are airing on Fridays at 11 p.m.
