USA Network to Marathon ‘This Is Us’

This is it, TV fans. This Is Us, the number one new broadcast network show of the television season, is getting the marathon treatment. TVLine has reported that all 10 episodes that have aired so far will be broadcast on USA on Jan. 7, 2017 starting at 1 p.m. EST.

The first episode will also be simulcast on E! and Bravo, but the remaining nine episodes will only be broadcast on USA. USA, Bravo and E! are all part of the NBCUniversal family, which is why the series will be able to have its marathon on the networks, since the show usually airs Tuesday nights on NBC.

The marathon will give viewers a chance to relive the magic of the pilot and relive all the twists and turns of the show up to the holiday-themed episode “Last Christmas,” where the fate of one of the beloved characters is up in the air.

The marathon will air the Saturday before new episodes start and could be a way for NBC to try and get new people hooked on the show.

The show’s ratings have been impressive since it started its freshman run in September. At the time of posting, the show has yet to dip below a 2.0 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, a considerable feat for any show on any network.

The most recent episode of the show, which aired on Dec. 6, has become the most viewed episode of the show’s initial run. When it first aired, the episode was watched by 10.93 million viewers and scored a 2.8 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, according to TV by the Numbers. The rating tied its season high (that was set in the premiere episode) and became the most-watched episode.

Those numbers have only continued to grow when DVR viewing has been factored in. In the Live + 3 day viewing, the show rose from a 2.8 rating to a 4.5 rating and was watched by 15.4 million viewers, according to TV by the Numbers. Both the rating and the number of viewers set new records for the show.

For the Live + 7 day numbers, the show continued its impressive run. The show scored a 4.9 rating and was watched by 16.4 million viewers, according to TV by the Numbers, easily making the holiday episode the most popular episode of the show’s run, in terms of ratings and viewership.

This Is Us returns to NBC on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at 9 p.m., where the remaining eight episodes of the season will air weekly without any breaks or hiatuses. The first season finale will air on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The marathon of the show starts at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 7. on USA.
