Disney+ and Marvel’s Loki season two premiered its final episode Thursday night. Tom Hiddleston (Crimson Peak) appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike to speak about the series and his journey playing the God of Mischief. According to Comicbook, Hiddleston tells Fallon, “It’s the conclusion of season two. It’s also the conclusion to seasons one and two. It’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes and 14 years of my life…”
The final episode of the season is titled “Glorious Purpose”. Hardcore Marvel fans might have been able to catch on, but for those who did not realize the deeper meaning of the title, Hiddleston provided some insight. Via Comicbook, Hiddleston continued, “…If you remember in the first Avengers film, Loki comes down to Earth. Looks straight at Sam Jackson as Nick Fury and I say I’m Loki of Asgard. I’m burdened with glorious purpose.” Loki heavily focuses on the ideology of whether there is free will, especially within the TVA, as the workers’ minds were wiped clean of their lives on Earth and filled with The Time Keepers propaganda to keep the sacred timeline in check by any means necessary. Loki also works through discovering his purpose throughout the series. His attempts to succeed as a villain have fallen short, leading him to being captured by the TVA, but through his experiences at the TVA, and with those he meets along the way, he gets to rediscover his purpose.
The Loki season two finale didn’t leave fans with a cliffhanger like in the first season. There was a conclusion to the problem Loki and the TVA faced, which means Loki season two could be the end of the series. No announcement has been made officially if Loki will continue for a third season.
