Tiffany Haddish to Executive Produce Aida Rodriguez Comedy with HBO Max

HBO Max is set to develop yet another untitled single-camera half-hour comedy, this time starring and co-written by comedian Aida Rodriguez and executive produced by Tiffany Haddish. Haddish’s production company, She Ready Productions will work with HBO Max to create the comedy based on Rodriguez’s life.

The series will delve into the struggles Rodriguez faces as an Afro-Latina comedian trying to start up her career while being a parent of two teenagers. While the show, co-written by Rodriguez, Nastaran Dibai (Resident Alien) and Chris Case (Legit), is a comedy, it is also a story about survival, based in a Miami ghetto community, according to Deadline’s exclusive report.

Rodriguez is a known comedian, writer and actress who has appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show and most recently has been a regular panelist on The Young Turks. Rodriguez recently also made history for being the first Latina to be on two specials on HBO and Showtime in the same month. Rodriguez was on Haddish’s Netflix standup, Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, where she was one of six comedians featured.

Along with Haddish and her She Ready Productions, Evan Silverberg and Daniel Rappaport for Management 360 will also be executive producing the uplifting series. Haddish’s production company has put out several projects recently, two being Haddish’s one-hour comedy special Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah and Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, both on Netflix.

Apart from producing and having her own production company, Haddish continues to act in projects. Upcoming on Netflix, Haddish will star opposite Octavia Spencer in a limited series called Self Made: Inspired By The Life of Madam C.J. Walker. She is currently on TBS’s comedy series The Last O.G., acting opposite Tracy Morgan. She also hosts ABC’s Kids Say The Darndest Things.
