‘The Walking Dead’ Potentially Airs Season 10 Finale in July

AMC’s The Walking Dead’s long awaited finale has a possible air date on Friday after California allowed film and television production to continue according to Comicbook.com. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the season 10 finale, titled “A Certain Doom,” could not be finished. Following quarantine guidelines, California shut down business scratching out the April 12 premier date.

Director Greg Nicotero (Day of the Dead) and showrunner Angela Kang( Grey’s Anatomy) revealed that the finale circles around Daryl, portrayed by Norman Reedus (All Saints Day), Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural), and other confined survivors fighting against a gang of zombies. Whisperer Beta, played by Ryan Hurst, is the ringleader of these zombies.  The episode was reportedly extremely close to finalization prior to post-production of  the episode being put on hold. Safety guidelines delivered by Los Angeles County allows film and television production to return on June 12, giving fans a glimmer of hope that the series finale could come closer than initially expected.

The last episode of The Walking Dead‘s tenth season can air once film and production requirements are met in order to keep cast and crew safe from the virus. This operation includes lessening the duration of production days while aiming towards longer shoots, focusing more on core crew rather than guest appearances via Indie Wire.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Kang remarked about the complexity of producing special effects, “What is continuing remotely is the effects that can be finished, but even after all of that’s done, all the shots need to be laid in.” She added, “There’s a color process that needs machines to be finished. There’s sound work that we usually do on the Warner Brothers stage, and that’s very complex mixing equipment that you can’t just move into somebody’s house overnight. And multiple people work on that.”

Nicotero has ensured to waiting fans that the ending will be eye opening, quite the build up to season 11’s arrival. As of now, it is uncertain when production will for forward on season 11. Prior to the pandemic, the season was anticipated to air October 2020. Get up to date on season 10 of The Walking Dead on AMC.
