‘The Simpsons’ Will Stream on Disney+ in the UK

The Simpsons will be available to stream on Disney+ in the UK, The Verge reports. Disney+ UK tweeted that “over 600 episodes” of the long-running animated series will be available on the platform. Currently, the series has approximately 670 total episodes.

In response to Disney+ UK’s tweet, one fan of The Simpsons tweeted: “We got justice!” Others replied with “woo-hoo,” one of Homer Simpson’s catchphrases.

Due to its ownership of 20th Century Fox, Disney owns the full rights to stream The Simpsons in the US. However, the company previously lacked the rights to do so in the UK because British satellite provider Sky owns the UK rights to Fox content like The Simpsons.

Sky recently made a multi-year deal with Disney that brings Disney+ to Sky’s “Q Box” platform. Sky CEO Jeremy Darroch credits the company’s close relationship with Disney for the success of this deal.

“We’ve built a strong partnership with Disney over three decades and we’re pleased that our customers in the UK and Ireland can continue to enjoy their world-class content – all in one place on Sky Q,” said Darroch in a statement.

Prior to Disney’s deal with Sky, it seemed unlikely that The Simpsons would stream on Disney+ in the UK. This agreement suggests that Disney+ is planning to further expand its UK content.

The Simpsons is currently in its 31st season. New episodes of the series air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
