Amazon has wasted no time in giving another season of The Man in the High Castle the greenlight.
Deadline reports that Amazon has ordered third season of the critical and audience hit The Man in the High Castle, which premiered its entire second season on December 16th, 2016. A few months ago the series lost its showrunner Frank Spotnitz, so Amazon also revealed that Eric Overmyer, who developed and executive produced Amazon’s Titus Welliver-starring Bosch, has signed on as the new showrunner for the upcoming third season.
The Philip K. Dick based series has been a huge hit for Amazon, with season 1 breaking records for the streaming service followed by season 2’s recent milestone of receiving the most viewers over its first weekend of any Amazon Original Series. Season 2 continues where season 1 left off, exploring the alternate history of a world where the Allied Powers lost WWII.
“As timely as ever, the exploration of characters at a dark point for humanity has provided incredible stories for two seasons,” said Amazon Studios’ Head of Comedy and Drama Joe Lewis. “Eric and his team are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not.”
The Man in the High Castle stars Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Luke Kleintank, DJ Qualls, Joel De La Fuente, Brennan Brown, Bella Heathcote, Callum Keith Rennie, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Rufus Sewell. Along with the newly added Overmyer Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Richard Heus, Isa Dick Hackett and Daniel Percival serve as executive producers of the series.
