‘The Last Kingdom’ Confirms Season 4 Release Date

The Last Kingdom is set to arrive on Netflix for a fourth season.The streaming service has confirmed they started filming the next 10 episodes, with a release date of April 26 made official today on both their Twitter and Instagram accounts. 

First produced by BBC America and co-produced by Netflix, the show became a Netflix Original in 2016 and currently has 26 episodes available in its three seasons. Based on The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell, the series has featured writing by Martha Hillier (Vera), joined by Jessica Pope, Vicki Delow and Nigel Marchant as producers. As for the cast, the platform confirmed that star Stefanie Martini will join the team and the main cast should be expected to return to defend the Kingdom against Norse Invaders.

(May contain spoilers.) Set in the 9th century when England was still separated in seven kingdoms, the story follows Uthred (Alexander Dreymon), a man forced to leave his ancestral home after his uncle’s betrayal. Taken as a slave with his lover Brida (Emily Cox), he is soon to be adopted by Earl Ragnar and renamed Uthred after his deceased older brother. Growing up among the Danes, Uthred ends up betrayed, accused of murdering his adoptive father. He is then forced into being a servant for King Alfred (David Dawson) in Wassex. Given the task at hand his king’s armies against the Danes, Uhtred is torn between his will to reclaim his birthright and his loyalty to those who raised him.

Season 4 will be available to stream on Netflix April 26.
