Critically acclaimed comedy series The Good Place has been renewed for Season 3 on NBC. Like the first two seasons, the third season will consist of 13 episodes.
The hit comedy series has been a solid performer for NBC in its Thursday time slot in the adults 18-49 demo. So far this season, The Good Place is averaging 6.2 total million viewers and 2.0 rating in the adults demo. Rotten Tomatoes gave Season 1 an approval rating of 90 percent while Season 2 is currently rated at 100 percent. The series has received praise from critics and was boosted by solid ratings.
The Good Place received a straight-to-series order in 2015. The half-hour comedy stars Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D’Arcy Carden. The show follows Bell’s character, Eleanor, who dies and is awakened in the afterlife. Initially, she believes that she was accidentally sent to The Good Place, but is mistaken when she finds out that she is in The Bad Place in the Season 1 finale. Danson’s character Michael plays a demon in The Bad Place who is assigned to torment Eleanor and her friends. From creator Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation), The Good Place is executive produced by David Miner, Morgan Sackett, and Drew Goddard alongside Schur who also serves as the writer and showrunner of the series. The Good Place is produced by Universal Television, Fremulon, and 3 Arts Entertainment.
The Good Place now joins This is Us and Will & Grace as early renewals for the 2018-2019 schedule at NBC. The series will resume its second season on Jan. 4 on NBC.
