Finn Wolfhard’s Band Calpurnia Sign to Royal Mountain Records

At age 14, Finn Wolfhard already has an impressive film and TV resume under his belt. The young Canadian actor has skyrocketed in popularity as of late, having starred in Netflix’s hit TV show Stranger Things as Mike Wheeler and in the recent horror blockbuster IT as young Richie Tozier.

Now, Wolfhard is adding another artistic feat to the list: his 4-piece band, Calpurnia, has recently been signed to Royal Mountain Records. The band will record and EP with producer and Twin Peaks frontman Cadien Lake Jones. You can watch Calpurnia’s recent cover of Twin Peaks’ song “Wanted You” below.

Wolfhard formed the band from a chance meeting of drummer Malcolm Craig on the set of a music video. The two quickly hit it off and sought out guitarist Ayla Tesler-Mabe and bassist Jack Anderson to join the band, which soon earned the name Calpurnia.

Wolfhard released a statement expressing his excitement over Calpurnia’s deal with Royal Mountain Records. “It is so sweet that we have such a good team at Royal Mountain Records.  I love everyone on it. I’m extremely excited to record our EP with Cadien Lake James,” he said. “Not only is he in one of my favorite bands of all time, and recorded some of my favorite songs, but he is also the sweetest guy ever. Thanks everyone so much who helped us out along the way, it means the world. <3.”

Calpurnia’s debut album is expected to be released some time in 2018.
