Lowest Ratings in Six Seasons for ‘The Walking Dead’

With Lucille taking a swing and a miss, this past Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead experienced its lowest ratings in six years.

According to ComicBook.com, “The Big Scary U” viewership was 7.85 million in the always important 18-49 demographic. Historically, their lowest rating came in Season 2, episode 6 (The Secrets) which only netted 3.01 million viewers. Even with the slight decline in ratings, The Walking Dead remains the highest rated show on Sunday nights.

Season 8 has experienced declining numbers since the premiere as shown below:

Episode 1 = 11.44 million

Episode 2 = 8.92 million

Episode 3 = 8.52 million

Episode 4 = 8.69 million

Episode 5 = 7.85 million

Given the teasers in episode 6, TWD is hoping to make a ratings jump before the mid-season finale. Negan’s backstory reveal and the random helicopter appearance created a buzz the show hasn’t experienced thus far this season.

Fans have also changed their viewing habits this season using streaming services and recordings. In the Live+3 ratings, TWD saw its best returns. Live+3 are the number of live views plus those watched via DVR within 3 days of airing.

Put on your pee-pee pants and catch The Walking Dead Sunday nights at 9pm on AMC.
