The CW’s ‘Stargirl’ Actress Brec Bassinger Talks About Shooting Two Finales And Cancellation Of Season Four

The lead actress of Stargirl, Brec Bassinger (Bella and The Bulldogs, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged) has praised writer and producer Geoff Johns’ (The Flash, Aquaman) creative decision to shoot two different endings of the third season of the series, according to Deadline. During an interview on the Wayne Ayers Podcast on YouTube, Bassinger also discusses what season four would have been like had the show not been canceled.

As stated on the Wayne Ayers Podcast, Bassinger said, “Geoff was so smart because obviously there’s been a lot of changes in the CW and the Warner Brothers this past year, so the future of any show was not quite certain and because of that, he went the extra mile and shot two different endings, because he did not want to leave the fans with all these question marks.”

Both endings were shot in March, only a few weeks before news of the cancellation was revealed. Bassinger believes the season finale will bring “a lot of beautiful closure” (quoted from the podcast) and mentions that the plot of the fourth season had been so good that it took the broadcasting company longer to scrap the series because of what a great idea it was. Bassinger ends on a bittersweet note, saying it just was not meant to be.

DC’s Stargirl is a show revolving around Courtney Whitmore, an average high school student who discovers a secret and begins to fight crime alongside her former hero stepfather. The character is based on Geoff Johns’ sister who died in the 1996 explosion of the TWA Flight 800. Johns created the character in 1999.

Stargirl is set to officially end with its season three finale episode, premiering on December 7th. This decision was made shortly after Nexstar Media Group brokered a deal to buy the CW network. To read more about the cancellation, visit MXDWN.
