The CW Will Air Season 1 of ‘Supergirl’ in its Entirety Before Season 2 Premiere

When it was announced that the CW had acquired Supergirl from CBS back in May, fans of the Kryptonian heroine felt a combination of excitement and relief, knowing that Kara would live on. Comic book lovers had already flocked to the CW thanks to their outstanding catalog of comic based shows like Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, adding Supergirl to the collection sent fan hype sky high. The only issue for new fans would be that an entire seasons worth of content and plot would be absent from their knowledge, leaving them high and dry for the start of season 2. That was until Supergirl sent out a video via Twitter announcing that, starting August 1, the CW would be airing back-to-back episodes of Supergirl season 1 every Monday.

This super season will blast through 20 episodes in ten weeks, ending a week before the premiere of season 2 on October 10. With 2 episodes a week, audiences will be able to catch up on what they missed in time to be prepared and excited for season 2 without suffering from the fatigue that often comes with binge watching a series.

Melissa Benoist (Glee) stars as Kara Zor-El a.k.a Supergirl, cousin of Superman, who also finds herself on Earth following the destruction of her home planet Krypton. Kara decides that after over a decade of hiding her abilities she is prepared to embrace her power and become a hero and savior to the world. In June it was announced that Tyler Hoechlin of Teen wolf would be joining the cast of Supergirl, playing DC’s iconic Superman.

Now that the show has found a home at the CW, fans can expect even more crossovers between DC shows. Back when Supergirl was on CBS, a crossover event occurred involving the CW’s The Flash (perhaps bit of foreshadowing there), and now that the two share a network new possibilities have been opened to an extreme degree. The CW has already announced that the annual crossover event this year will include all DC shows currently on the network, and with the upcoming seasons for all shows on the horizon, who knows which hero will stop by which city for a cameo every now and then.
