A week after Amazon Prime’s The Boys finished its third season run, the title of its upcoming second spinoff series has finally been revealed. According to Deadline, the new show will be called Gen V and takes place at the university exclusively for young adult superheroes vying for a spot within Vought. The show itself has been described as part college romp, part Hunger Games, with all the tidings of The Boys’ crude humor and bloody violence. The series’ main cast announced the title in a video posted on The Boys’ Twitter account.
After some casting changes, the series will star Lizzie Broadway (16 and Missing, Henry Danger), Jaz Sinclair (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, When the Bough Breaks), Chance Perdomo (Midsomer Murders, After We Fall), Shelly Conn (Bridgerton, Good Omens), Maddie Phillips (Teenager Bounty Hunter, Loudermilk), London Thor (You, Lady Bird), Derek Luh (Shining Vale, All Rise), Asa German (Caviar, Two Little Boys), Sean Patrick Thomas (Save the Last Dance, The Tragedy of Macbeth), Marco Pigossi (Invisible City, Tidelands), and Patrick Schwarzenegger (Midnight Sun, Grown Ups 2), according to Deadline.
“I’m so excited to be a part of this show,” Sinclair says in the video via Deadline, “and I’m so excited for you guys to watch it. There’s love, and beautiful relationships, and tons of action and superheroes.” Phillips adds there’s “lots of hormones, drama, and mystery.”
Deadline reports Michele Fazekas (Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, Reaper) and Tara Butters (Marvel’s Agent Carter, Hollywood Ending) are co-showrunners and executive producers for the series which is currently in production. The massive team of additional executive producers includes The Boys comic creator Garth Ennis, series creator Eric Kripke (Supernatural), Seth Rogen (Pam and Tommy), Michaela Starr (The Boys), Evan Goldberg (This Is the End), Erica Rosbe (Rick and Morty), James Weaver (The Night Before), Craig Rosenberg (The Quiet Ones), and Neal H. Mortiz (Fast Five).
Ori Marmur (Escape Room), comic artist Darick Robertson (We Gotta Go Now), Pavun Shetty (S.W.A.T.), Jason Netter (The Hunters), and Ken Levin (Random Acts of Violence) round out the executive producing team, with Brant Englestein (Emergence) serving as co-executive producer, via Deadline. The series is housed by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures producing.
It’s gonna be a rollercoaster,” Broadway said via Deadline. “It’s gonna be filled with blood, guts and everything else.” There is no release date set at this time.
All three seasons of The Boys and one season of the animated spinoff, Diabolical, can be streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime.
