Terry Chen Is Set To Appear In Season 5 of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’

Earlier this month, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow announced that they were losing two of their series regulars, Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford. The executive producing team stated, “They have always brought a level of passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show – both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”

However, as the show is losing cast members, they are also gaining some new cast members. Olivia Swann, who played Astra at end of the Season 4, will be returning as a series regular for Season 5. Swann appeared in the final two episodes of Season 4 as a soul stuck in Hell. In the finale, Astra picked up the souls of some of the world’s most notorious criminals and released them into the world and scattered them throughout time. During Comic-Con, the executive producer of the series explained that the trick to creating “Encores,” such as the real-life villains have been dubbed, “is to come up with a fun horrible person.”

After that announcement, TVLine learned that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow cast Jessica Jones, The Expanse, and Continuum alum, Terry Chen, to play the infamous Mongul ruler, Genghis Khan, in the fifth episode of season five titled “Mortal Khanbat.” According to TVLine, the episode “presents Khan as a cool-tempered but ruthless Mongolian ruler, who finds himself alone in 1990s Hong Kong. But he adapts quickly and uses his mastery of military strategy to pursue his single greatest ambition: conquering the globe.” Chen has currently been working of the British show Chimerica and the Canadian show The Murders.

The fifth episode of season five will also be directed by DC’s Legends of Tomorrow star Caity Lotz. This will also mark Lotz directorial debut.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will air on The CW in January.
