Awards season may be a ways away from the summer months, but the Television Academy is here with nominations to look forward to by announcing its presenters for nominations for the upcoming 78th Emmy Awards in press release from June 18. Prior Emmy winners Jeff Hiller (Ghost Town, Greta) and Liza Colón-Zayas (IF, David Makes Man) will be presenting the nominations in a ceremony, set to take place Wednesday, July 8, 8:30 a.m. PDT/11:30 a.m. EDT – which will be livestreamed from the Academy’s Wolf Theatre in the Saban Media Center.
Host for the nominations ceremony will be the Television Academy’s Chair, Cris Abrego. Per the Television Academy, in relation to the newly-announced ceremony, Abrego said:
“This year’s submissions reflect the undiminished creative range and vitality of our medium, celebrating both emerging talent and beloved creative voices who are shaping the future of the industry. We are thrilled to acknowledge these artists and storytellers whose work matters so deeply to audiences around the world. I’m delighted to welcome Liza and Jeff to usher in another exceptional Emmy celebration.”
As detailed by the Television Academy:
Actor and comedian Hiller received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2025 for his role of Joel in the comedic drama series Somebody Somewhere, which also won him a Peabody Award in 2022. His television credits include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Ugly Betty, Broad City, 30 Rock, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Most recently, he held multi-episode roles in Stumble and Widow’s Bay, and appeared prior in Elsbeth, Pluribus, and two seasons of American Horror Stories. Aside from television, Hiller has also appeared in productions on Broadway, off-Broadway, and in Shakespeare in the Park; while also performing improv and a one-man show in 2025 amidst publishing a memoir.
Colón-Zayas was a 2024 recipient of the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Tina “T” Marrero in FX’s critically acclaimed comedy-drama series The Bear. She made history as the first Latina to be awarded a Primetime Emmy in this category, and the role of Tina also led to; two Imagen Awards, a SAG award, and a Critics Choice and Golden Globe nomination, respectively. Coming soon, her incoming credits include indie drama Fleur, blockbuster and highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and a final reprisal of her award-winning role in the fifth and final season of The Bear. Like Hiller, Colón-Zayas is no stranger to the stage, with a number of off-Broadway performances under her belt as the foundations of her acting career.
As stated by the Television Academy, the 78th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on Monday, September 14 (8:00-11:00 p.m. EDT/5:00-8:00 p.m. PDT) on NBC with a live stream available on Peacock. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held September 5-6, 2026 (Saturday and Sunday).
