‘Ted Lasso’ Receives Highest Weekly Viewership Ever on Nielsen Streaming Charts

According to Deadline, Ted Lasso landed at number six overall and number four for original streaming program on the Nielsen streaming charts for the week of April 24 to April 30. The series received its highest weekly viewership ever with 795 million minutes viewed.

Netflix’s The Diplomat was first place overall with 1.4 billion minutes viewed, up 7% from the week before. The series debuted on April 20, making this the first full measurement period for the series. The Diplomat stars Keri Russell (Felicity, The Americans), Rufus Sewell (The Man in the High Castle, Kaleidoscope), and Ali Ahn (Raising Dion, Odd Mom Out).

Number two on the overall Nielsen streaming charts was Netflix’s Firefly Lane with 1.1 billion minutes viewed. Number three was Better Call Saul and number four was Sweet Tooth. The list also included Disney+’s Bluey and Netflix’s Cocomelon. Workin’ Moms, NCIS, and Grey’s Anatomy rounded out the list.

Prime Video’s new spy thriller Citadel did not make the list. The series aired on April 28 and received 306 million minutes viewed in the first two days after the release of episodes one and two.

Ted Lasso first debuted on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020 and follows an American football coach who gets hired to manage a British soccer team. What he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for in biscuits, determination, and optimism.
