‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ Reveals Teaser Trailer

According to Deadline, The First Shadow, the upcoming Stranger Things stage adaptation, has released new teaser trailer. The Stranger Things Twitter account revealed the teaser in a tweet.

On the Phoenix Theatre’s website, the play is described as the following:

Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.

Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, who take theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to a whole new dimension, this gripping new adventure will take you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story – and may hold the key to the end.

The First Shadow is based on the original story by Matt and Ross Duffer (Hidden, Wayward Pines), Jack Thorne (Wonder, Enola Homes 2), and Kate Trefry (Fear Street: Part Three – 1666). The play will be directed by Stephen Daldry (The Reader, The Hours) and will be co-directed by Justin Martin (Flight, High School Musical 3: Senior Year). It takes place 25 years before the events in the Netflix series.

The creative team also includes costume designer Brigitte Reiffenstuel (Adriana Lecouvreur, Britten’s Peter Grimes), sound designer Paul Arditti (National Theatre Live: Amadeus, Billy Elliot), lighting designer Jon Clark (As You Like It, Hansel and Gretel), and set designer Miriam Buether (Anna Nicole, King Lear). Illusions design and visual effects will be designed by Jamie Harrison (Flight, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) & Chris Fisher (Peter Gynt, Macbeth), wigs, hair, and make-up design will be done by Campbell Young Associates, video design & visual effects will be done by 59 Productions, and Coral Messam (Masters of the Air, The Man Who Fell to Earth) will do movement direction.

Other creative team members and the cast will be announced in the future.
