Netflix’s Stranger Things has been making a lot of waves with all of the twists and turns within the first part of the season. Spoiler warning for readers who have not seen part one of the final season.
In the four episode of the show we see our characters Eleven and Hopper both played be Millie Bobby Brown (The Electric State, Damsel) and David Harbour (Thunderbolts*, A Working Man), are in the Upside Down where they are tracking the military in order to find Vecna played by Jamie Campbell Bower (Emmanuelle, Witchboard). However, standing in the way of finding Vecna was the military’s Dr. Kay played by Linda Hamilton (Resident Alien, Solar Opposites).
According to Commicbook, after Hopper and Eleven’s battle with Dr. Kay, Eleven discovers her “lost sister” Kali from the second season of the show played by Linnea Berthelsen (Stranger Things, Sláinte). Kali was revealed to be a character with a similar set of powers just like Eleven however the only difference being that Kali’s powers were centered around illusions and manipulating one’s mind so that they see something that isn’t there.
On Comicbook the Duffer Brothers made a statement as to why Kali has been brought back for the final season. They said, ” ‘we want when someone watches through the entire show, it doesn’t feel like we dropped a storyline or a thread,’ he explained. ‘That it all connects. You see everything fits together. And that was definitely a loose plot strand.'” The Duffer Brothers also mention that the episode that Kali debuted in didn’t give her a chance for the audience to know what she was capable of. Perhaps Kali’s return in season five will wrap up her storyline in a way where there are no loose ends left behind.
We will have to see what else will happen with Kali in part two of the Stranger Things series finale set to stream on December 25, 2025.
