Stephanie Sigman Joins Cast Of ‘American Crime’

Upcoming Bond girl for the film Spectre, Stephanie Sigman, will now join the cast of André Benjamin and many others for the second season of American Crime according to Variety.

American Crime has been nominated for ten Emmys in its first season, the most for any broadcast show. American Crime was created by Academy Award winning writer, John Ridley (12 Years a Slave). Cast members for the first season will return for the second, returning cast members include Elvis Nolasco (Oldboy), Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People), Richard Cabral (End of Watch), Regina King (The Boondocks), Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), and Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under). But along with André Benjamin and Stephanie Sigman, there will be other new faces to the second season. New members include Joey Pollari (The Inbetweeners), Connor Jessup (Falling Skies), and newcomer Angelique Rivera.

Stephanie Sigman not only will star in the upcoming Bond film, but she will star in the upcoming Netflix original, Narcos. Sigman is most known for her role in the critically acclaimed movie, Miss Bala.

Executive producer for the show, John Ridley, talked about the new addition to the cast, “She is so finely accomplished, and we’re amazingly fortunate that she’s decided to come directly from a project as substantial as the new Bond film to work with us on something as observant as American Crime. We continue to build the cast, and that really is testament to the work and commitment of all the actors and artisans with whom we’ve had the opportunity to work on this program” (Variety).

Stephanie Sigman will play an administrator, Monica Ava, who works at an Indianapolis public school. Her character’s loyalty and values will be put into question throughout the season’s run. The second season will focus on one male student from a public high school accusing many other male students at a private high school of sexual assault.

The second season of the Emmy nominated anthology series will premiere on ABC.
