‘Snowpiercer’ Television Series to Premiere 2 Weeks Ahead of Schedule

‘Snowpiercer’ is to premiere two weeks earlier than expected on TNT as a result of the coronavirus crisis. The series will premiere on the network on May 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

‘Snowpiercer’ is based on the 2013 critically acclaimed film of the same name directed by the Academy Award-winning Bong Joon-Ho. The film itself was based upon the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and depicted the survivors of a man-made Ice Age on a luxury train that circumnavigates the globe. Onboard the train, the less-privileged survivors are left to subsist in the back whilst the rich life in the lap of luxury at the front.

The television series is to take place just seven years after the start of the Ice Age and will serve as a prequel to the film. The series began development in 2015 but was only ordered to series in 2018.

The series is to premiere earlier in order to provide its audience with entertainment during the ongoing coronavirus crisis. As the nation is plagued with an ever-growing list of stay-at-home orders and a growing population of self-isolators, TNT is looking to provide its captive audience with entertainment during the crisis.

The series is to star Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Jaylin Fletcher. The series is to be jointly produced by Tomorrow Studios and CJ Entertainment and will be jointly executive produced by Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, Manson, Hawes, Matthew O’ Connor, Derrickson alongside the film’s original producers Bong Joon-Ho, Miky Lee, Tae-sung Jeong, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun, and Dooho Choi.
