Showtime Subscribers Get ‘Homeland’ Season 6 Premiere Early

Showtime subscribers are getting an early peek at the new season of Homeland ahead of its 2017 premiere.

Deadline reports that the first episode of Homeland‘s sixth season, which is set to debut on January 15th at 9 pm, is available to subscribers on Showtime on Demand and Showtime Anytime. This is tactic that Showtime has used in the past to some success with early online premieres for Ray DonovanThe AffairBillions and Shameless.

Season 6 of the popular Showtime series takes place a few months after the Berlin terrorist plot that was the focus of last season. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), who now lives in Brooklyn working at a foundation attempting to help Muslims living in the US, finds herself caught up in issues surrounding the new president-elect (True Grit and House of Cards‘ Elizabeth Marvel). Along with Danes and Marvel the series stars Mandy Patinkin, F. Murray Abraham, Rupert Friend, Hill Harper, Robert Knepper, Patrick Sabongui, Jake Weber and Dominic Fumusa.

Homeland, based on Israeli series Prisoners of War, was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon. The series comes from Fox 21 Television studios and is executive produced by Gansa, Gordon, Danes, Chip Johannessen, Lesli Linka Glatter, Michael Klick, Patrick Harbinson, Avi Nir, Ran Telem and Gideon Raff.
