Showtime Releases Trailer for Season Seven of ‘Billions’

Created by Brian Koppelman (Solitary Man, Runner Runner), David Levien (Knockaround Guys, Rounders), and Andrew Ross Sorkin (The Newsroom, Too Big to Fail), the first season of Billions first debuted on Showtime in 2017. The series’ seventh and final season trailer has been revealed in preparation for the season’s release on August 11th. According to TVLine, the trailer reveals the return of the departed cast member Damian Lewis (Homeland, Band of Brothers).

Damian Lewis plays the character Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, but he left the series after the fifth season. As Entertainment Weekly notes, Lewis left the series for numerous reasons, such as the desire to spend more time with family. Regarding his departure and his time working on Billions, he stated, “A pleasure and a privilege to play Axe for five seasons with some of the smartest, funniest most talented cast and crew I’ve worked with. I’ll miss the Billions family. Yep, some jobs are more than just a job…. Love.”

In addition to Lewis’s return, fans can look forward to a jam-packed season where each character will be challenged. As TVLine notes, Showtime has stated that during this final season, “alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends.”

Billions revolves around a United States attorney named Chuck Rhoades, played by Paul Giamatti (Sideways, The Illusionist). Throughout the series, he has tried to expose the financial crimes and power-hungry nature of various hedge fund billionaires, such as Bobby. The sixth season focuses on his efforts against Mike Prince, played by Corey Stoll (House of Cards, The Strain).

Other stars of the show include Maggie Siff (Sons of Anarchy, Concussion) as Wendy Rhoades, David Costabile (Suits, Breaking Bad) as Mike Wagner, Condola Rashad (Romeo and Juliet, Steel Magnolias) as Kate Sacker, and more.

Although Billions is coming to an end, TVLine notes that fans of this concept can follow along with news regarding potential spin-offs, such as Millions and Trillions.

In August, fans can look forward to tuning into an intense season and witnessing the return of Damian Lewis’s beloved character Bobby Axelrod.
