Seth MacFarlane Reveals A First Look At Peacock’s New ‘Ted’ Series

According to Comicbook, Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, The Orville) has recently revealed first look at his Ted series. MacFarlane took to social media on Monday to share an image from Framestore, a VFX studio that’s working on the series. Framestore is known for working on films such as Barbie, The Fall Guy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade Runner 2049, and many more. The prequel series which is inspired by the film with the same name will be airing on Peacock.

Below is the Instagram post from MacFarlane which reads, “An image from Framestore Melbourne, who have surpassed themselves with their exquisite VFX work on Ted for peacock. Much gratitude to our Aussie friends!”

According to Comicbook, MacFarlane had last year discussed how the series would be a challenge as much of the creative energy originated from Mark Wahlberg (Uncharted), who will not be returning for the series. The prequel is set in the 1990s and will follow the story of a younger version of Ted and John Bennet. There were many other challenges that MacFarlane had to face when it came to the production of the series.

At the 2022’s PGA Produced By conference, MacFarlane said, “For me, the challenge was really how does this character exist in a world without Mark Wahlberg? That was really a two-hander. The movie was a real feat of visual effects work for the artists who did it. But also, if you look at the raw footage before the bear was placed into it, a lot of it was Mark.”

According to Comicbook, the synopsis for the series reads as follows, “It’s 1993 and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.”

The film Ted is available to stream on Peacock.
