Seeso Picks Up New Show and Renews Three Others

Seeso keeps giving comedy nerds new reasons to stay indoors and laugh their asses off.

Deadline reports that NBCUniversal’s ad-free comedy streaming channel has picked up the Tim Baltz (Drunk History) and Ted Temper (The Daily Show) series Shrink, and has renewed Hidden America With Jonah Ray, The Cyanide & Happiness Show and Big Jay Oakerson’s What’s Your F@%king Deal?!.

Shrink follows Baltz as a fresh-faced med school graduate who finds himself jobless and in extreme debt. In desperation Baltz’s character, named David Tracy in the original web series/pilot, finds a shortcut to become a therapist by offering free supervised clinical sessions to oddball and bizarre patients in his parent’s garage. Baltz is no stranger to Seeso, appearing as Platinum Reality’s new office manager Glenn Bouchard in Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ and as a few characters in Gentlemen LobstersShrink is executive produced by Baltz, Temper, Jean Doumanian, Patrick Daly, and Jon Stern.

On the renewal side, Seeso has ordered an eight-episode second season of Jonah Ray’s half-hour fake travel documentary series Hidden America, a ten-episode third season of darkly comedic animated series The Cyanide & Happiness Show, and a ten-episode second season of crowd work-focused stand-up series Big Jay Oakerson’s What’s Your F@%king Deal?!.

Seeso original The UCB Show was also picked up for second season earlier this summer and has just recently finished shooting its second season at the UCB Sunset theater. The series (which gives people not living in LA or NY a chance to see what the UCB is all about) features a mix of sketch, stand-up, and comedic experimentation by the greatest performers the famous theater has to offer. The UCB Show has showcased a ridiculous number of comedians including Betsy Sodaro, Rich Fulcher, Joe Wengert, Eugene Cordero, Eva Anderson, Jerry Minor, Jon Gabrus, Lauren Lapkus and Mary Holland (half of improv powerhouse Wild Horses), Mookie Blaiklock, Dominic Dierkes, Andy Daly, Neil Campbell, Seth Morris, Paul Rust, and Drew Tarver.

Seeso has built up an impressively vast comedy library consisting of both original content and cult classic series. The platform is home to shows like Matt & Rich’s Snuff BoxThe Kids In The HallGarth Marenghi’s Dark PlaceFawlty Towers and Monty Python’s Flying Circus. On the original programming side Seeso has Who Charted? co-host Kulap Vilaysack’s Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, Dan Harmon’s roleplaying series Harmonquest, and the recently added series Take My Wife created by and starring both Rhea Butcher and Cameron Esposito.
