Scott Elrod Cast in ‘Chicago Fire’ for Multiple Episodes

A new face is coming to Chicago Fire for multiple episodes. According to TVLine, Scott Elrod has book a role on the inaugural show in the Chicago franchise on NBC.

Elrod will play Travis Brenner, a lifestyle celebrity with millions of followers on Instagram. His character will cross paths with the firefighters of Firehouse 51 during a call and will take notice of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and his playboy lifestyle. He then begins to tempt Severide into joining his lifestyle.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Derek Haas said “This guy always has a party going on, always has a new adventure to rope in a new friend. He feels like Severide is a real guy, not the usual hanger-on, entourage type of guy that he’s used to hanging out with, so he’s attracted to Severide in that way. He’s going to cause some mischief over the first three episodes.”

Given that Kinney has been filming in the new season, viewers should breathe a sigh of relief knowing that he’ll physically survive the cliffhanger from the fourth season, where Stella’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) ex-husband, Grant, was waiting for the two of them with a knife in his hand. Viewers can also be assured that Stella will also be physically okay as she was promoted to be series regular back in May after being a recurring character for the last few episodes of season four.

To celebrate the casting news, Elrod tweeted out an Instagram photo of him and the guys of squad three, which is one of the groups within Firehouse 51 on the show.

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy will remember Elrod as Will Thorpe, the Army doctor that Meredith Grey went on a few dates with in season 12 before telling him she wanted to slow it down, since he was the first person she went out with following the death of Derek Shepherd in season 11. He was on the show for four episodes.

Prior to Grey’s Anatomy, he did a lot of guest work on different episodes, including How To Get Away With MurderThe Young and the Restless, NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI: Miami and had a recurring role on Men In Trees. He’s also appeared in movies, such as Lone Survivor and Argo.

Chicago Fire returns for its fifth season on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 10 p.m.
