Sarah Paulson on Matthew Perry’s Passing; “One of the Most Generous People”

In the wake of Matthew Perry’s death, many fellow actors alike are sharing their grievances with the passing of the man who portrayed the iconic Chandler Bing. During an episode of The View, Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story, Ratched) shared her feelings and memory of the late Friends star. She talked of him in high regard and shared with viewers that he was kind, generous, and undoubtedly hilarious.

Both Perry and Paulson co-starred in Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip together. During this time, Paulson credits Perry with helping her out and landing her the role in said television series.

Paulson spoke of Perry in reference to her struggling days as an actress. Paulson then credited him with helping her out in that struggling timeframe for her. She said, “I was at a particular place in my career where I needed that job very desperately and he, because of his friendship with Amanda Peet, who was my best friend at the time, who was also on the show, they had done a movie together called The Whole Nine Yards,” she explained. “So he asked me to meet him in the parking lot for my final audition, and I got in his car and he ran the whole scene with me multiple times so that I could have a leg up on the other performer.”

To nobody’s surprise, the Emmy-winning actress landed the job. But she did not hold back in giving Perry her thanks for her success, “I sort of credit him with taking that extra time, and he absolutely did not need to do that.” She then continued to share memories that she recalls with the late actor. She stated that Perry “was just the kind of person that if you made him laugh or if you made him smile, you felt like you had really arrived.” she then added, “I had the great pleasure of making him laugh a couple of times and it made me feel really good, he’s a wonderful guy.”

Matthew Perry passed away in his LA home on October 28, 2023. His exact cause of death is yet to be released.
