Sandra Oh Reveals Whether She’d Return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Paging Dr. Yang. Sandra Oh, who played Cristina Yang for 10 seasons on Grey’s Anatomy, recently gave an interview about whether she’d be open to return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital anytime in the future.

Grab the tequila and tissues, because, according to Entertainment Weekly, Oh said she doesn’t think she’ll be coming back anytime soon.

“At this point, no, I don’t think so,” Oh said when Access Hollywood Live co-host Kit Hoover asked if she’d return to the show.

When co-host Natalie Morales asked about Oh’s potential return when the show ends (which isn’t in the immediate future as the show was picked up for 14th season), Oh said “I had spoken to Shonda about that, but it’s also like, I just don’t know. I just don’t know. It would have to feel right.”

“Every so often … as an actor, as an artist, it’s a full life that one has. And as I look back to that time, which was extremely important and deeply meaningful to me, it means a lot to me that a whole generation of fans are discovering the show. So it means a lot to me as an actress,” Oh said about people circulating petitions to get her to come back to the show.

You can watch the full interview below. The talk about Grey’s Anatomy starts at three minutes and 22 seconds.

For 10 seasons, Oh starred as Cristina Yang, the overly-ambitious aspiring cardiothoracic intern turned attending at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital (though it was first called Seattle Grace Hospital and then was re-named Seattle Grace-Mercy West Hospital).

Throughout her time on the show, she had a well-liked relationship with Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). But one of the main draws was the friendship between Cristina and Meredith, as they each dubbed each other “their person.”

As a way of getting Cristina to leave the hospital, she moved to Switzerland, where she took over a heart hospital from ex-fiance Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) at the end of the 10th season.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.
