Ryan Murphy (Ratched, American Crime Story) teased fans with the first official poster for the tenth season of FX anthology series, American Horror Story according to Deadline. The Hollywood producer posted the clue to his Instagram page on Tuesday evening. It has since acquired 258K likes and 10, 000 comments.
According to Deadline, the poster touts a sharp-toothed mouth agape for what appears to be a tattoo artist’s pen. Upon the tongue, the artist has imprinted the signature AHS logo signifying the tenth season. Returning to film this month due to COIVD-19, the latest addition in the horror drama series is aimed for a 2021 release date. This May, Murphy alluded to the theme of the season with a cryptic image of a beachfront. Pairing the poster with the previous clue, one could assume this season will highlight a narrative around a sea creature or killer aquatic monster.
In the past, each AHS season has highlighted an array of horror themes and elements. From a haunted house occupied with the spirit of murder victims to witches and warlocks battling a satanic apocalypse. The latest iteration entitled AHS: 1984 paid homage to the 1980s slasher era, with a group of horny twenty-somethings being picked off at a summer camp.
According to Deadline, season ten will see the return of series regulars Sarah Paulson (Ratched, Run), Kathy Bates (Misery, Richard Jewell), Lily Rabe (The Undoing, AHS: Coven), Adina Porter (The 100, AHS: Roanoke), Angelica Ross (Pose, AHS:1984), Finn Wittrock (Unbroken, Judy), Billie Lourd (Booksmart, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and Leslie Grossman (The Good Place, AHS: Cult). Original cast member Evan Peters (AHS: Murder House, X-Men: Apocalypse) will also return to the series, as he did not appear in season nine. The season ten cast will also see the addition of Macauly Culkin (Saved!, Party Monster) in a rare return to acting.
