The second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City is on its way! An official trailer was viewed at San Diego Comic-Con for the second chapter, set to be released in 2025. The trailer was packed with plenty of action and suspense, along with multiple scenes of Lauren Cohan (playing Maggie Greene) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (playing Negan), seen separately and together. Also, a notable detail revealed in the trailer is that Negan’s infamous bat “Lucille” will return.
When asked about the difference between seasons one and two, Eli Jorne revealed that season two will be just as dark as the first and “tonally, it’s the same”. However, the second season will differ in that there will be a swell of new characters. When asked to share words that described the new season, the cast and crew supplied answers such as, “Central Park”, “dark”, “intense”, “methane” and “ironic”.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan also talked more specifically about where the season would take his character, Negan.
“He is evolving”, he explained, when asked about changes to Negan throughout the story’s arc. “The circumstances of this season bring some of the old Negan, including Lucille”, added Morgan.
The cast was all overwhelmingly grateful to be a part of the project. Lauren Cohan shared that she is “so grateful that we’ve got this history and have this renewal”. Overall, the new season looks promising and fans will likely look forward to its release in a year’s time.
