NBC has announced plans to revamp the 1980’s detective series into a half hour comedy, The Los Angeles Times reports.
The original Remington Steele starred Pierce Bronson as a con-man who is hired by a female private detective to act as her figure head for her new detective agency, when she learns that people aren’t lining up to hire a female detective. The original run was an hour-long part drama, part romantic comedy and police procedural that provided a template for other hits like Moonlighting.
Fast forward thirty years, and the daughter of the original characters, Olivia Holt, has re-opened the Remington Steele detective agency.
The reboot is being written by Jay Scherick and David Ronn with Ruben Fleischer set to direct.
