Production Of ‘Gen V’ Season Two Halted Due To The Tragic Death Of Star Chance Perdomo

The cast and creators of Prime Video’s Gen V were expected to get back together in Toronto yesterday afternoon for the superhero series’ first table read of season two, according to Deadline. Filming was set to begin on April 8th in the Canadian city. Chance Perdomo (After Everything, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina), who played Andre Anderson on Gen V, passed March 29th due to a motorcycle accident. Perdomo was only twenty-seven years old.

According to Deadline, the circumstances surrounding Perdomo’s death are not well known. He is thought to have passed away in Upstate New York late Friday night or early Saturday morning while returning to Toronto. The actor’s representatives said today that no other people were involved in the crash, citing authorities.

The start of Gen V‘s season two production has been postponed indefinitely due to Perdomo’s passing. The writers and producers of the series will have to decide how to move forward with the show without one of its main actors after taking some time to mourn Perdomo’s unexpected passing. Either they will need to recast the part or completely rewrite the script for the upcoming season in order to write off Perdomo’s character.

Deadline reports Perdomo portrayed Andre Anderson on Gen V, a well-liked student with the ability to manipulate magnetism. He starred alongside Jaz Sinclair (When The Bough Breaks, The Vampire Diaries), Lizze Broadway (American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rule, Bad Mom), Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Project MC2), London Thor (Lady Bird, The Rolling Soldier), Asa Germann (Caviar, Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story), and Shelley Conn (Bridgeton, Good Omens).

Gen V‘s producer released a statement: “We can’t quite wrap our heads around this, For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense. We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”

Weeks after its premiere, Gen V received a season two renewal, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show debuted in late September in the midst of the actors’ strike and quickly became popular with critics.
