Prime Video Sets Season Two Premiere Date for ‘The Wheel of Time’

According to Deadline, Prime Video has announced that The Wheel of Time season two will premiere on September 1. This is nearly two years since the first season was released, which was one of Prime Video’s largest premieres.

The Wheel of Time is based on the best-selling fantasy series by Robert Jordan (The Eye of the World, The Great Hunt) of the same name. It follows Rand al’Thor, a humble farm boy. He learns he is The Dragon Reborn, a dangerous historic figure destined to save or break the world. An army of powerful sorceresses are desperate to protect him from the Dark One and they must reckon with Rand’s encroaching madness and burgeoning power.

In season two, threats new and old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers scattered across the world.

The series stars Josha Stradowski (High-Flyers, Just Friends) as Rand al’Thor, Ceara Coveney (Young Wallander, The Amazing World of Emma) as Elayne Trakand, Daniel Henney (Big Hero 6, Criminal Minds) as Lan Mandragoran, Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, I Care a Lot) as Moiraine Damodred, Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Redfern Now) as Egwene al’Vere, Zoë Robins (The Killian Curse, Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve al’Meara, Dónal Finn (How to Build a Girl, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) as Mat Cauthon, and Marcus Rutherford (Country Lines, Bulletproof) as Perrin Aybara.

The series was created by showrunner Rafe Judkins (Uncharted, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Judkins executive produces along with Pike, Larry Mondragon (The Wheel of Time, Winter Dragon), Amanda Kate Shuman (Berlin Station, The Blacklist), Justine Juel Gillmer (Halo, The 100), Rick Selvage (Winter Dragon, The Wheel of Time), Ted Field (Cocktail, The Cutting Edge), Darren Lemke (Goosebumps, Shazam!), Mike Weber (Jumanji: The Next Level, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Marigo Kehoe (The Crown, Outlander), and Sanaa Hamri (Just Wright, Something New).

Brandon Sanderson (The Way of Kings, Elantris), Harriet McDougal (Happy Hour, The Wheel of Time), and Lauren Selig (Hacksaw Ridge, Lone Survivor) serve as consulting producers.

The Wheel of Time was released on Prime Video on November 19, 2021 and is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios and Amazon Studios.
